Receiving an ADHD diagnosis in adulthood can bring a mix of relief, confusion, and questions about what comes next.

Adjusting to ADHD Counselling offers a structured series of therapy sessions designed to help you understand your ADHD, build self awareness, and develop practical strategies that support your daily life and wellbeing.
You can move through the sessions at your own pace and are not required to complete all of them. Session fees are $160, and we can direct bill Blue Cross for eligible clients.

What To Expect: Understanding & Thriving with ADHD

This structured ADHD counselling pathway consists of 6 focused sessions that combine psycho-education, reflection, and strategy-building. You’ll work with your therapist to explore how ADHD shows up in your life and develop tools to manage it in a way that feels sustainable.

Who Is Adjusting To ADHD For?

Adjusting to ADHD counselling is designed for adults who want to better understand themselves, their experiences, and how ADHD fits into their lives.
• Have been diagnosed with ADHD and are learning what that means for them

• Want to understand their emotions, patterns, and strengths on a deeper level

• Are looking to create realistic systems and supports that make daily life feel more manageable and balanced

The Structure of Adjusting to ADHD Counselling Sessions

Each session builds on the last, helping you gain clarity about your ADHD, strengthen self-understanding, and create systems that support your everyday life.
  • Begin with a personalized assessment to explore how ADHD shows up in your life and define meaningful goals for therapy.

  • Learn how ADHD affects attention, executive functioning, and emotional patterns in adults, and gain clarity on the realities versus the myths of the diagnosis.

  • Explore how ADHD impacts your relationships, work, emotions, and daily routines. Recognize patterns and strengths that shape your experience.

  • Understand how ADHD can shape the way you see yourself and your emotions. Together, you’ll work on rebuilding confidence, easing shame, and creating space for self-acceptance.

  • Create realistic systems that align with your brain. Develop personalized tools for organization, focus, and follow through that truly fit your lifestyle.

  • Reflect on your progress, celebrate change, and outline next steps for continued support and skill building.

  • Many clients choose to continue counselling after the initial series to deepen self understanding, strengthen emotional regulation, and maintain accountability with executive functioning strategies.

Your therapist will work with you to determine what kind of ongoing support feels right for you. Some clients continue weekly, while others move to biweekly or monthly sessions as they integrate new skills into their lives.
