COMPASSIONATE CAREIndividual Therapy
A dedicated space to explore your thoughts, feelings, & experiences with a professional who genuinely cares about your wellbeing at Moncton Counselling & Wellness.
The FoundationWhat is individual therapy?
Individual therapy is a confidential, one-on-one relationship between you and a licensed therapist. It's a safe space to explore what's happening in your life—whether that's challenges, transitions, emotional struggles, or a desire for deeper self-understanding.
Therapy isn't about judgment or "fixing" you. Rather, it's about understanding yourself more deeply, building resilience, and finding your own solutions with professional support and guidance.

Your Therapy JourneyWhat to expect
Session Structure
Individual sessions are typically 50 minutes, held weekly or bi-weekly depending on your needs and preferences. We create a consistent schedule to support your progress.
Therapist Match
If you don't feel a connection with your assigned therapist after 1-2 sessions, we can facilitate a match with a different provider.
Your Pace
There's no "right" way to do therapy. We move at your pace, addressing what feels most important to you in each moment. You're always in control.
Confidentiality
Your privacy is sacred. Everything discussed in therapy is completely confidential, with very limited legal exceptions (such as immediate danger to yourself or others).
Backed By ResearchWhy individual therapy works
Undivided attention & personalization
Your therapist focuses entirely on your needs. Every intervention is tailored to your unique situation, history, and goals—not a one-size-fits-all approach.
A witness to your story
Being truly heard by another person creates profound healing. Your therapist holds your narrative with compassion and without judgment.
Scientific backing
Individual psychotherapy is one of the most thoroughly researched interventions in mental health. It's shown to improve anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, and overall life satisfaction.
-
No. Therapists are trained to meet you with unconditional positive regard. We've heard it all, and our role is to understand, not evaluate.
-
That's completely normal, especially early on. Your therapist will help guide the conversation and ask questions that create space for reflection. Therapy isn't about performing.
-
There's no fixed timeline. Some people find relief in 8-12 sessions; others work with a therapist for years. We'll regularly check in on your progress and goals.
